Now that we have a new Mayor, I thought things might get better. That's what I get for thinking ! More cut backs are coming. I heard (on the tv) that he was talking of selling 2 police helicopters, I don't know if Tulsa has more than two, and I doubt they do, but I am not sure. By selling the helicopters wouldn't that affect the crime rate here? Yes, I do believe it would, and that really ticks me off.
How, I have been wondering, a city the size of Tulsa, not have the money to take care of things ? That kind crud really irks me to no end.

It has long been known that HR plays by its own rules. A PW section manager once declined to stick up for me in an HR matter because, he said, "Sooner or later everyone wants something from HR. And they hold grudges forever."

I'm not surprised by the stipend. They undoubtedly think it money well spent.

Another department hard hit by the budget shortfall is IT. And I'm not sure the entire Public Works Department is covered by the enterprise funds. There should still be room to cut within that monster.

It's hard to spend money wisely if you never take the time to find out what is really important. The City's new management, for all their business acumen, seems chaotic, driven by today's crisis, right now. Good government is like good sex: take your time, slow and steady, and wait for the right moment.

This doesn't surprise me. People in administrative positions are often convinced that they're in a separate class from other employees, that they are almost impossible to replace, so they have to get special perks and benefits and bonuses to ensure retention. Whereas you can just pick up technicians and drivers and nurses and so forth up off the streets for a dime a dozen. At least that's their thinking as it appears to me. They don't think they're doing anything wrong; they've convinced themselves that they don't have any choice.

The other day I thought I saw new growth on my sequoya tree . It turned out to be a little green frog and I was amazed to see how much it looked like part of the tree. I am sure that it is the gray tree frog even though it was green with a brown bottom. I am hoping that it is eatting ants ,spiders or any other bug that may want to nibble on the new growth of my newly planted tree.
